Why this site exists
Search for a dolphin tour on this island and every listing photographs the same leaping spinner dolphin — including the tours that are legally forbidden from putting you anywhere near one. Since October 2021, federal law bans approaching Hawaiian spinner dolphins within 50 yards, so "swim with dolphins" on Oahu means swimming with other species entirely, a distinction most sales pages skip. Meanwhile "guaranteed sightings" can mean a written promise or a free re-ride that is useless on your last morning.
None of that is secret. It is in NOAA's own regulations, in the operators' small print and in a year of dated reviews. Putting it next to the price is the entire job of this site.
Where the facts come from
Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions and age limits are read off each operator's own listing on the date shown on the page, in US dollars. Every tour page carries the same fields in the same order. Tour listing checked: August 2026.
Dolphin-viewing rules are checked against NOAA guidance under the Marine Mammal Protection Act; harbor and pickup logistics against the operators' own published schedules. Traveller feedback reviewed: more than 5,000 verified reviews across GetYourGuide, Viator and Tripadvisor.
Where an operator admits something inconvenient in its own words — such as the statement that the boat must move away if a spinner pod approaches, or that 7:30 AM is the boat's departure time and not the pickup time — we quote it rather than smooth it over. Review quotes carry the reviewer's name, platform and travel month exactly as published. We do not write testimonials.
What we do not do
We do not ride the boats, meet the crews or audit safety records. Judging whether the channel is calm enough for swim entries on a given morning takes a captain reading that morning's water, and that is a job for the company you book with.
We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs.
How the site pays for itself
Links to tours on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going there directly.
That arrangement pays for the research and nothing else. It does not decide which tours appear, what order they sit in, or what we say about them. The cheapest cruise in the comparison is the one we point comfort-first travellers to, and it is not the one that earns the most.
Corrections
Prices move, pickup schedules shift and viewing rules get updated. If something here is out of date, write to us and tell us what you found and when you sailed. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
